Holzschneflermuseum Resenhof in Bernau: Farmer's life from the past

If you step over the threshold into the low living room of the Resenhof, then it is a step into a bygone time. The Black Forest Eindachhof is more than 200 years old, it was built in 1789 and has been preserved in its original condition. The farmer and Kübler Rese Hans lived in it until 1976, and since 1977 it has been the Black Forest Holzschneflermuseum. Nowhere else in the Black Forest will you find the topic of "working with wood" presented so vividly in original workshops. With the Bernauer inclusive guest card you have free entry.

Hans Thomas Museum Bernau

In the more than 50 years of its existence, the Hans Thoma Art Museum in Bernau has acquired an excellent reputation far beyond the southern Black Forest. The extensive Hans Thoma exhibition, which provides an excellent insight into the diverse work of the painter, contributes to this. From 1890 onwards, Thoma (1839-1924) was Germany's most popular landscape and portrait painter for many years.

St. Blasien Cathedral

In the neighboring town of St. Blasien there is a very special, sacred beauty. With the largest church dome north of the Alps, this church building, impressive in its simplicity and clarity, welcomes its visitors and impresses with a perfect spatial harmony. Only St. Peter's Basilica and the Pantheon in Rome and the cathedral in Florence have a somewhat larger church dome. A visit to the Blasiusdom should definitely be on the excursion program.

Winterhalter Museum Menzenschwand

In the middle of the 19th century, Franz Xaver and Hermann Winterhalter were the best-known and most popular painters of princes at all European courts. They documented the European aristocracy in its entirety. Therefore, their work is to be considered and preserved as a pan-European, valuable cultural heritage. Le Petit Salon, furnished in the late Biedermeier style, is unique in the German and European museum landscape, as it is dedicated to these two painter brothers, who were connected throughout their lives . Le Petit Salon is located in Menzenschwand in the Black Forest in the immediate vicinity of the brothers' birthplace and is therefore in the most ideal of all possible locations.

Visiting the breweryThe Rothaus World of Adventure has many special features in store for your visitors: It starts in the museum, the Zäpfle Heimat, continues on the Zäpfle Weg along the brewery to the Quellgeist and back again with a stop at the large adventure playground for fun and exercise: climbing wall, obstacle course and water play street for variety. Finally, during a 90-minute tour of the brewery, you will get exclusive insights behind the scenes of the brewery. The guided tour begins with an entertaining multimedia show, then the path leads to the brewhouse, the storage cellar and the bottling plant. Background information on the manual work of the master brewers and the technically sophisticated processes within the innovative facility is provided in a technically sound manner. At the end of the tour, enjoy a Tannenzäpfle in the Zäpfle Bar. The number of participants is limited, so we recommend registering in good time.

Freiburg in Breisgau

Freiburg im Breisgau, the university town in the Black Forest, is just under an hour's drive from Bernau and is known for its mild climate and the reconstructed medieval city center criss-crossed by small streams. The Schlossberg recreational area can be reached from Freiburg with the Schlossbergbahn. In the old town, the 116 m high tower of the Gothic Freiburg Minster rises above the Minster Square. The city is great for strolling. With the KONUS card, you can travel from Bernau by bus and train via Schluchsee to Freiburg and back for free.

Basel on the Rhine

The city on the Rhine impresses with a variety of cultural offerings. More than 40 museums are just waiting to be visited by you. In the midst of many historic buildings there are countless shops to stroll through. Modern architecture and medieval buildings alternate. The best way to explore Basel's old town is on foot.

Strasbourg in Alsace

Strasbourg in Alsace is one of the most beautiful cities in the world - not least because of the city's landmark, the famous Strasbourg Cathedral, which celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 2015! The Münsterplatz in front of it is one of the most beautiful market squares in Europe, also because there are numerous picturesque half-timbered houses, some with four and five floors. A showpiece of the Münsterplatz is certainly the well-known, richly decorated Kammerzellhaus. The entire center of the city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to the diverse architecture.

Flower island of Mainau in Lake Constance

The island of Mainau in Lake Constance is one of the most popular destinations on Lake Constance. Spring starts with around a million tulips and other spring flowers, hundreds of rhododendrons and fragrant roses sweeten the summer, over 11,000 colorful dahlias make autumn unforgettable and in the cold season the flower island is transformed into a magical winter garden. The popular excursion destination invites visitors all year round to forget the hectic everyday life and consciously enjoy the beauties of nature.

Rhine Falls Schaffhausen

At 23 meters high and 150 meters wide, the Rhine Falls is one of the largest and most water-rich waterfalls in Europe. Just a few kilometers from Lake Constance, the Rhine Falls are one of the major attractions in this area. It lies west of the Untersee in Switzerland and attracts numerous travelers who have a fascinating view of the water masses between the rocks from several platforms. Another vantage point is the Schlösschen Wörth, which is located on an island in the Rhine. Don't miss out on the impressive natural phenomenon of the Rhine Falls when you vacation with us.

Steinwasenpark

It is a good 30 kilometers from Bernau to the Steinwasenpark. It is 218 meters long, 30 meters above the pine tree tops: the adventure rope bridge in the Steinwasen family park is one of the longest in Germany. The summer toboggan run and the spectacular water ride in the River Splash are also popular. With 15 attractions in the midst of Black Forest fir trees, the Steinwasenpark is a beautiful family destination.

Europe Park

Europapark Rust should not be missing. With around 5.6 million visitors in 2017, the famous leisure and theme park is the most visited leisure park in German-speaking countries. According to the AECOM Theme Index 2014, Europa-Park is one of the 25 most visited theme parks in the World, and is the second most visited amusement park in Europe after Disneyland Paris, as well as the most visited seasonal amusement park in the world. In September 2018, the "Golden Ticket Award" jury of the US magazine "Amusement Today" voted Europa-Park the best amusement park in the world for the fifth time in a row offered several shows.
